Join us on March 8-10, 2012 for an amazing weekend packed full of knitting, learning and sharing at the beautiful Springbrooke Retreat Centre in Langley, BC.
We are so proud to be hosting Kate Atherley, a.k.a. wisehilda, as your resident instructor for the weekend. Kate is a knitwear designer, teacher, Knitty technical editor, and author of the recently published Beyond Knit and Purl. We can also attest to the fact that she is an amazing teacher and all around lovely person, having the pleasure of working with her at Knit City.
The theme of the weekend is Knitter’s University, or Knit U. for short. Suitable for beginners or experienced knitters looking to enhance their skills, Kate will lead us through workshops and lectures on Sizing & Fit (with bonus material on alterations!), Finishing Skills, Fixing Mistakes, Yarn Knowledge, and Expert Tips & Best Methods.
In addition to the workshops, we have an exciting outing planned for Saturday night. 88 Stitches of Walnut Grove will whisk us away to their cozy yarn shop for an evening of shopping and exclusive deals. Judy Marples of purlbumps will host a trunk show of her gorgeous collection of shawls (which will be available for you try on), and Melissa of Sweet Fiber will be there with her stunning hand-dyed yarns. We will also have the requisite Knit Social retreat Friday games night (with awesome prizes!), swag bags, and a RMT on call (rates and packages available to follow).
Rates for the weekend include: two nights accommodation, delicious homemade meals daily, field trip to 88 Stitches, and workshops and lectures with Kate Atherley. All you have to do is get yourself there!
We have a variety of rooms to choose from for the weekend and are happy to announce that we will be providing an Early Bird rate for those who wish to register right away.
Early Bird registration is available from now until December 15, 2012 but must be paid in full at time of registration. Regular registration will begin December 16, 2012. We will also accept a non-refundable $100 deposit, with the remainder due no later than February 8, 2013, on the regular registration rate.
Rates are as follows:
Shared Room (detached bathroom) $425+HST or $400 Early Bird rate

Yay!!! I took the colourwork class with Kate at KnitCity, I really enjoyed it, she’s a great teacher!!! what a treat to have her for the entire weekend.
Are crocheters welcome? What about a crocheter who wants to learn to knit?
Crocheters are absolutely welcome. Many of the classes will be geared towards knitters who are looking to advance their skills though and I’m not sure how those would translate to crochet. I am happy to ask Kate though!
